Ficinia nodosa

$5.00 inc. GST

A rather strong and dense rush-like plant with short creeping rhizome. It usually grows to about 80cm tall. It is an adaptable plant growing in a variety of places, mostly around the coast. It will grow in sheltered hollows in the sand dunes with dry sand, up on hillside and in swamps and river and lake margins from sand to clay. It is abundant in coastal wetlands through out NZ. Excellent for waste water treatment plants and wetland revegetation jobs. Though it looks like a rush it is actually a sedge. This is determined by the way the seeds are held in the seed head.
