Native to South Africa. Clivia are herbaceous evergreen plants, with green, fleshy, strap-like leaves. Large orange bell-shaped flowers in clusters on a stalk above the foliage. Most common flower colour is orange though cultivars range in yellows and reds. Frost tender and requires at least half shade so plant under other trees or under cover. The miniata species is a bit smaller than grandiflora species. Clivia don’t like to be in the full sun so if you would like them to be in the sunlight you should use Cyrtanthus elatus which is similar as it grows well in full sun.
