Callistemon viminalis

$10.50$60.50 inc. GST

An attractive and reliable small tree for street planting. The brushes are usually about 70 mm long by 50 mm diameter, bright red in colour and are usually seen in spring and sometimes in autumn. The seed capsules that follow the flowers release the seed annually, unlike most other Callistemon species, where the seed remains in the capsules for many years.

Bottlebrushes are found along many coastlines as the seeds fall into the ocean and germinate overseas.

Occurs naturally on the east coast of Australia from Cape York to north-east New South Wales. It is more common along watercourses on the coastal plains where it forms a shrub or small tree up to 8 m tall; larger specimens up to 18 m tall have also been recorded. Likes sandy soil.
